Comments:It is amazing how you can spend 4 months training for a 1/2 marathon (in my case, I have done that twice), and then when you are training for a full marathon you sign up for a 1/2 just because you are running 13 miles anyway, and you are only 2 months into your training.
They had us starting down hill, but the actual 1/2 marathon didn’t start until we reached the flat part, which was about 1/4 of a mile. So saying that my actual time is 2:38:50 with a 12:08 split is not correct, it should be 13.1 miles in 2:35:44 or 13.36 with a split time of 11:53. My mileage seemed off the whole run and I wasn’t sure why until I confirmed my mileage with another runner after afterwards. Her Garmin showed 13.36 as well and then she explained the ‘delayed’ start. (I think it was more convenient to have everyone gather at the hill then at the flat part; space wise.)
Overall I had a good race. I tried to drink something every mile and GUed every 3 miles. I dehydrated in my last 1/2 marathon so I wanted to make sure I didn’t do it in this one. I was even able to drive myself home (45min drive) where as the last one I had the hubby take me home.
I am looking forward to my rest day tomorrow. 🙂
