Rest Day

I did not run nor lifted weights. I simply took it easy (my legs are thanking me for it)

I ran accross this today inside a Organic Spearmint box and felt the need to share it:

“Do not wait, the time will never be just right.  Start where you stand and work with whatever tools you may have at your command. Better tools will be found as you go along.”

Bike @ home ~ 22 miles

Time: 4:00 pm

Weather: Sunny, low 80’s

Clothes: Adidas shorts, Books technical shirt

Shoes: Izumi Pearl

Distance: About 22 miles

Time: About 2 hrs 20 min

Split: ?

Course: Rode to Baltimore via Canal Rd. with the hubby, met up with the stepdaughter and then we all rode back home.

Comments: With the step daughter the ride back was much slower, but that was fine by me. My legs where killing me from yesterdays run. They hurt the first 3 miles fairly bad and then got better. I am making tomorrow a rest day for the legs for sure!

11 miles @ home (12:22)

Time: 7:30 am

Weather: mid 60’s, nice

Clothes: Adidas shorts, MiT technical shirt

Shoes: Izumi Pearl

Distance: 11 miles

Time: 2:16:04

Split: 12:22

Course: Through New Salem, just past Cattail Rd and back

Comments: I wasn’t sure how far I was able to go today. I told the hubby that I might be calling him at mile 8 or 9 to be picked up. I was feeling good at mile nine other than I could feel blisters in the making (but then I had been feeling them since mile 4). I walked ever mile for 0.9 miles to drink and stretch, I think that really helped.

Mile 4 and 5 where the easiest, cause they were downhill all the way. In turn mile 6 and 7 where a bitch, all uphill.

I was tired at mile 10, but told myself “it’s only a mile”. About 1/2 mile from home my non-favorite dog decided to chase me, so I had to walk and then actually stop. I make a point of running on the other side of the road just to put more distance between me and the dog should he come out. He came running towards me and then was actually was standing in front of me on the road, growling, barking and his hair standing up. I wanted to tell the owner of the dog off when he finally came out and called his dog back, but I was to tired nothing came out.

Overall this was a good run. I am glad I went the distance, I just hope I won’t be too sore the next few days! lol

Crankygirl, I wish you the best of luck tomorrow in your NY City Triathlon. Go kick some butt, just not your own! 😉

Elliptical Rider ~ 4?

Time: 10:00am

Workout: Elliptical Rider

Duration: 40 min

Miles: I turned the machine off without checking the milage…doh!

Calories: 526

Shoes: Pearl Izumi

Comments: Went well, no pain.

Did not run last night. With the “hub-meister” coming home so late there was no one to watch da “kinder-poopen”. That’s ok, I was too tired anyway.

2.25 miles @ work

Time: 10:00 am

Weather: Indoors

Clothes: Adidas shorts, Adidas technical shirt

Shoes: Izumi Pearl

Distance: 2.25 miles

Time: ~ 30 min

Split: ?

Course: Treadmill

Comments: Was sore in the right hip for about 1.5 miles then it went away. However at mile 2.25 my stomach sent severe stress signals to my brain telling it to look for the bathroom. My stomach is a mess, wondering if it was the eggs I ate this morning!

My plan was to run 3 miles. Then after the signal I was going to hop on the elliptical rider after the storm cleared, but my stomach was totally against spending calories/energy on the ellitptical rider. I am saving that energy to make it through the day.

If all is better by tonight then I’ll run 1 or 2 miles this evening.

Bike @ home 13.82 miles

Time: 3:00 pm

Weather: Sunny, high 80’s

Clothes: Adidas shorts, Books technical shirt

Shoes: Izumi Pearl

Distance: 13.82 miles

Time: 1 hr 20 min

Split: ~ 10 mph

Course: To da In-laws from da house

Comments: The hubby thought it would be a good idea to ride our bikes to his parents house, so we stopped to buy me a helmet and gloves. I ended up also buying a cheap bike, but nicer than my current one and a side mirror. The ride was nice. There was only one hill that got us breathing really hard, but in general we took it really slow. No leg pains afterwards, but I did stretch it a bunch.

ART – Dr. Visit

The visit went well. The streching, icing, anti-inflammatory, and rest is working. Amazing how much better if feels when you know how to stretch the muscle that needs to be stretched, makes a world of difference.

The doctor applied pressure to each muscle in the surrounding and effected area. It was 20 minutes of going through a grinder, but I have had hardly any pain since then…AND I was allowed to run a mile today. If that goes well then I am to increase it a mile per day each day…wOOt!
