Course: Group Run up and down Olentangy Trail

Comments: I felt like crap Friday night, I had gone to the doctor that day because I haven’t been able to turn my head to either side without pain (It doesn’t hurt while running). The doctor said I strained my muscle due to the way I sleep (mental note: pick up new pillow when going into town next time) and prescribed a muscle relaxant. That in turn messed with my stomach and made me a little woozie. So I had this internal acceptance that my long on might not be as strong as I thought it could be…

It didn’t start off too great…the side pains I experienced at the end of Friday’s run came back, but they dissapeared after about a 1/4 mile…woot!!! After that I decided to just plop myself behind one of our pace leaders and just let her guide my pace. We ran the first 3 miles in 32:17! I did not look at my watch though…we got something to drink at the waterstop, I GUed and on we went. At mile 5.5 the pace leader dropped out, stating she was only running 6 today (it was a 1/2 mile back to the starting place), so we continued on without her. I GUed at about mile 6.5. 4 of us had to run 12, and me and another girl (I can say girl, ’cause she seemed like my oldest son’s age – 19) had to run 10. At mile 8 we bid the 12 milers farewell and headed back. We just started chatting about training and running, and before we knew it we were back at our cars. The funny thing is we both agreed that if we were running by ourselves we’d be walking right now, but instead we ended up pushing each other a bit, which was nice because the last 1/4 mile is all uphill. Overall a very good run. 🙂

I am very glad that the 10 miler turned out so well. I am hoping that next weeks 15 miler (a distance PR) will be as good (I won’t be able to run with the group though, that’s gonna hurt a bit).

    YAHOO for YOU!! You made it sound so easy. I am starting to get a little bit nervous for 10 tomorrow. My husband is like, “WHY?” Um, I don’t know, maybe because I’ve never gone that far before? Well, I guess it isn’t life or death or anything, I just want to make it 🙂

    Glad you elected to do this with friends. Sounds like it paid off!
