11 miles @ home (11:27)

18 Aug

Comments: Overall a good run. My main goal was to stay strong during mile 8 and I managed that. Last week come mile 8 I was ready to throw in the towel, I didn’t want to feel like that again. I ran that mile in 10:57.

Less than a quarter mile into the run I noticed that my Garmin was reading my turtle ‘speed’ miles per hour instead of minutes per mile. I made the adjustment while running and thought I was all set. Then I glanced at the Garmin at mile 3 and noticed that I hadn’t ‘moved’ since I messed with it last in the beginning. I had to think about Joe and got a good chuckle out of it! lol The Garmin shows me what time I started and I checked the time when I stopped, so the run times is just about right.

I GUed and drank at mile 4 and 8, other than that I was always running. My first 3 miles where my slowest and I noticed that it takes me about 2 miles before everything is working right and moving (somewhat) smoothly.

I was tired at mile 11 and very glad that I didn’t have to run 15 today, but I did feel much stronger than my July 21st 11-miler and I think that’s what this training is all about.

Now it’s off to Chucky Cheese’s for my daughter’s 7 birthday party. Come to think of it, I’d rather do a 15 miler than hang around that place;) Nah, it should be fun.

Congratulations! Sounds like a very good run. Hope Chuck E Cheese wasn’t grueling.

I have a headache now…that place is punishment for all my childhood sins, I just know it! 😉

11 miles, especially with that mental victory at mile 8, is a great day’s work.

Truly enjoy your site and following your progress to rocking at Columbus Marathon!

When my kids used to go to Chucke Cheese, they got so excited. That kind of thrill is still pretty cool to watch. Hope the headache is easing.

Congrats on getting in your run and a trip to Chuckee’s house. You are so smart. I have 11 kids over for my son’s 7 year BDAy party – that was not the smartest thing I did this year.

I’m so glad you had a good long run. At least someone was. You and Cranky both sound like you did well. Mine was awful, payback for the night of poker and being bad…

Ugh, nobody told me you have to be SMART about this….
