My worst fear

28 Sep

My worst fear right now is getting sick, catching someone’s cold or flue.

Sitting in class last night the lady in front of me was sniffling like crazy, blowing her nose, etc. (You can’t afford to miss a class so I don’t blame her for being there). She turns around and my hand immediately flies up to cover my mouth and nose. :O She wanted to know if we (me and the lady next to me) were going to the library after class for research. Heck no, not with you and your germs! But of course I didn’t say it that way. Instead I politely declined and hoped she’d keep her germs facing the other way.

Today in the elevator someone is in there with a cold, my step son visited a couple of days ago with a cold. It is everywhere!!!

I find myself taking extra vitamins and also washing my hands longer than usual. I am also making a conscious effort not to touch my eyes or mouth with my fingers, and trying to get enough sleep. These next three weeks are gonna be hell!!! 😉

I am taking today off to give my body rest for the 22 miles it has to endure tomorrow.

Oh, I can totally relate to this post. It seems that just as I am in the middle of my taper for a big race, the whole world is sick. It is like the viruses and bacteria of the world have gotten together to conspire against me and my race. Aarrgh! I will admit that I start cheating when this happens. I always have a stash of antibiotics around the house and will start a prophylactic regimen. Now I know that most doctors would frown on this (and I am frowning as I blog this… I promise), but you do what you have to do. I will also admit to taking copious amounts of Airborne and almost fanatical hand washing. Hang in there and Columbus better be ready for you.

Lots of hand washing is a good idea. And don’t hang out with the germies. You’ve got the right idea!!

Glad you are taking a rest day. You were starting to make me tired! 😀

Good luck with the 22–I’ll be trying to endure 18 on Sunday.

btw–no judge at Grand jury. It’s the blind leading the blind.

I’m anticipating the taper madness already. Good luck on the 22 tomorrow!

I can totally understand. I get hypersensitive before a big race and become paranoid of everything. I would just hate to get sick or hurt right before a marathon or 50k. Of course, stubborn me would still run the race and try and PR! Oh well…

Good luck with the taper. You’re gonna do well at the Columbus Marathon…
