12 @ home (12:17)

Comments: Walked .10 of a mile every mile. Right leg was tight and ached the whole way; no knee pain though!!! The ache did not get worse and I did not get shin splint pains. Overall not a bad run.

The following day my right leg was very sore right above the knee in the back. I am pretty sure it’s just a muscle ache! My piriformis muscle is also aching, but not bad. Continuing with the iceing and stretching when possible.

Depending how next week 22 miler is going, which I am looking forward to by the way, I’ll make the decision on running the full or the half. Coming home after runing the 12 I felt I could have gone out and do it again. I am very happy about that.

3 @ work (10:57) & 3 miles elliptical

Comments: The 10am, 3 mile run was not pleasant. The knee was ok, but the piriformis muscle made a starteling, painful comeback! In order to compansate the new ache I changed my gait and in turn got shin splint pains in my right leg. The pain was not too bad over all though (or maybe my pain tresh hold is going up) and I was able to finish the run in a very decent time.

I did not want to irritate the leg further so I did 3 miles on the elliptical rider before class in the PM.

Thoughts of changing over to the 1/2 marathon have entered my mind.

I am making tomorrow a rest day.

Mama’s got a brand new pair…

Saucony…of shoes!!!

I went to Front Runner today to get a new pair of shoes. I was either going to get the current shoe that I have only 1/2 bigger or something similar.

The sales person mentioned to me that he had the same Pearl pair but they only lasted him 69 miles! They started to show some severe wear on the outside. He showed me where mine had worn out in the same spot. He brought out the Pearl Izumi (1/2 larger) and the Asics Gel-2120.

The Asics felt better than the Pearl, but I was a bit gun shy because with the current Asics pair that I have (Gel-1120) my left foot starts hurting in the ball area after 2 or 3 miles. I might as well just save me the money and run in those.

Then he brought out the Saucony. They seemed to feel really good. He told me to go run around the block, which I did. To make a long story short: I ended up with the Saucony Trigony 5.

Of course now I want to go out there and try them out on a run. But, my body is tired, I will hold myself back and go at it tomorrow. School is starting back up for me tomorrow evening, so I might just hop on the elliptical rider with them (after all I don’t want to fall asleep in class), but I reserve the right to change my mind. Of course!

Egg on my face?

No, but yogurt on my pants! 😮 lol

At work: I managed to drift off into “the land of dreams” just long enough for the yogurt container to slip out of my hand, turn upside down, and land in my lap!  Strawberry yogurt on tan pants. Yummy! 😉

This is gonna be a long day, I just know it. lol Mentally I am already running my 5 miler (which I plan on doing tonight), getting away from it all!

10 miles @ home (11:57)

Comments: I planned on running Saturday morning, but somehow I got ‘stuck’ on the PC and did not go to bed until 3 am! :O Of course my weary bones did not get up until 10 am. So I decided to wait until Sunday to run with strict order to the husband to send me to bed no later than 11pm on Saturday evening!

I decided on wearing my gloves and a baseball cap; it was a good decision because it was pretty chilly outside. After my lungs got used to the cold air (I prefer the cold air of humid any day, so no complaints here) I was getting into a rhythm. The run overall was uneventful, the knees ached a little bit, but nothing like last Saturday. At about mile 7.5 my IT band said hello, but it didn’t stay around. 😉

After the 10 mile loop I was thinking about going out again, but I want to be able to start back into my training tomorrow and not be sore. Now my right knee is aching a little, but that’s nothing some Motrin and ice can’t take care of.

It felt good to be back out there and I am looking forward to running in the colder weather. 🙂
