3 @ work (10:16)

Comments: My big debate whether I should listen to my book on tape or music turned out to be a mute one; I had left my headset at home! Doh! Instead I just listened to my body and breathing.

My intentions to run the whole 3 miles without walking worked! I kept telling myself that I managed to run 2 miles without walking, so what’s one more mile. Turns out this was one of my best runs in a very, very long time.

Mile 1: 10:17 Mile 2: 10:21 Mile 3: 10:08

I am soooo excited about the splits! I am running a 10k on June 8th and I am really hoping that I’ll be faster than I was on Saturday.

Tomorrow is weightlifting day, but my wrist is still sore and with vacation comin’ up next week I don’t want to push my luck. The elliptical rider will have to do, or I might go out for an easy run.

10k @ home (10:53) + 1.8 miles (13:13)

Comments: I was looking forward to the 10 on the 10th all week…today was the day! I made sure I went to bed early and got some good rest the night before. I really didn’t have a game plan, other than that I wanted to do well and run a total of 8 miles.

Those that follow my blog know that I usually run 5 minute walk 1 minute. It has worked well for me in the past, but if I want to run a 5 hour marathon I really need to start running more/faster….so I decided to run 2 miles and walk a little.

That’s just what I did. The only time I really struggled was at mile 4 and I walked more than I really should have. I had head wind just about the whole time and the last .3 of mile 3 where uphill (excuses, excuses, I know šŸ˜‰ ) so I walked about two minutes to catch my breath.

The last two miles were hard, but I pictured my blogging friends behind me, pushing me, and also in front of me, pulling me. And I finished the 10k in 1 hour, 07 minutes and 23 seconds. (notice the the watch reading 6.21, I missed the stop button on my Garmin the first time around lol) I am VERY HAPPY with my running time!

I noticed a blister forming on my right food in the arch around mile 5, so I decided to take it really easy after the 6.2 and finished the last 1.8 at a 13.13 minute pace. I am pretty sure now that the blister is caused by my socks. I wore different socks (Brooks) during the 1/2 marathon, today I wore my Wright socks. I’ll have to go out and buy more of the Brooks.

Thanks Nancy for making me go out there and doing this! I am looking forward to the next one.

Hills x 4 (3 miles)

Comments: Once again my body amazes me. I was certain that I’d die doing hills, but nope, I am still going. Granted, my legs are a bit tired, none the less I am still upright! I wanted to get 3 miles in, but that meant 4 repeats on the hill, which isĀ only .15 miles long, but steep.

I am very happy with my time and how I am feeling afterwards. Tomorrow is rest day! I have worked my body hard over the last week and it deserves some rest. Now I just need someone to tell my brain that!

Time: 10:00 am

I did and so can you…

HELPĀ that is.

CNN

I donated to aid the survivors of the cyclone that hit Myanmar. My choice was UNICEF, but you can pick from many different ones.

Impact your world

We are very lucky to have the things we have, why not take a little bit of that and give it to those that really could use it right now.

Bike @ home 6 miles

Comments: I had nothing to do now that I gave up playing on the computer during the week*, and with a new book to listen to I headed downstairs to ride the stationary bike. My game plan was to ride it for an hour, but then thought better of it. I don’t want to wear out my legs completely.

*This is one of the results from the very serious conversation I had with myself during the 1/2 marathon. I have gotten more sleep and feel so much happier about things. (I still check up on my favorite blogs via my Palm Pilot though šŸ˜‰ )

Ā

On Saturday I am looking forward to participating in the virtual 10k on the 10thĀ race. Thanks Nancy for getting that going!

Time:Ā 6:30Ā PM

Distance:Ā 6 miles

Time:Ā 1/2 hour

2 @ work

Comments: The hubby went with me! That was kinda nice, but he hasn’t run in forever and has shin splint issues (some people are just not meant to be runners). We ran for a little bit, real slow, and streched, but even that brought pain to his legs. So he walked and I ran for about a mile and then walked back to work with him. It was fun and I hope we can do this again soon (just further).

3 @ work (11:39)

Comments: I felt pretty stiff going into it, and it didn’t really improve during the run, but that doesn’t mean it was a bad run, just not a very fast one. I’ll be doing some stretching tonight when I get home.

My wrist is still swollen (not as bad as yesterday), but it did not hurt while I ran. I was a bit worried that it might.
