I have made my decision about this year’s marathon: I am not going to run it. My adjusted goal for this year is to break my 1/2 marathon PR instead in October.
The decision does sadden me a little bit (I feel a sense of loss), but overall I am good with it. I have made great improvements over the least 2 months with my running and my weight loss, but the calf injury is a bit of a set back. So I am going to concentrate on continuing getting better for another year and then be able to do what I wanted to do this year, which is break the 5 hour marathon time, perhaps do even better.

I’m not off the fence yet, and I’m sorry about your calf, but it’s nice to know others have struggled with this question also.

I hate passing up anticipated races, but I think you are wise to keep an eye on the injury. Most likely you will meet both your half and full marathon goals that way too! I think I finally have a race on the horizon…I better start following your great workout plan! Sounds like you are rockin!
