Push Ups

Week 2 – Day 3: 15 x 15 x 12 x 12 x 16 (70 total)

With the 1/2 marathon last weekend it’s been a week since I have done push ups, but I was able to complete the required numbers. Exhaustion test is next, hopefully Saturday. 🙂

I stepped on the scale this morning, which I haven’t done in a while, and it showed me a number I have not seen in a long time. A good number! 🙂 I sure hope I can keep this up, or that, keep it going down! 🙂

Strength Training & Push Ups

Comment: No running today, which is a good thing, my legs are still pretty tired from last night. I am dissapointed with the amount of push ups I was able to do. 18 is 2 less than last week. I did feel tired this morning though. Instead of moving on to the next week or repeating last weeks I am going to move up in the row, increasing the amount of PUs, but not as much as week 3 has. Hopefully I’ll be able to start Week 3 next week!

My strength training went well. I’ll have to check out a few different types of exercises for the same muscles. Doing the same ones every time gets a bit boring.

Push ups exhaustion: 18 (very dissapointing)

Pull Downs: 1 x 20 (#6), 1 x 15 (#6) (Increase in weight)

Tricep Pull Downs: 2 x 20 (#4) (need to go up 1/2 #)

Rows: 2 x 20 (50 lbs)

Bicep Curls: 2 x 20 (10 lbs)

Bench Press: 1 x 30 (45 lbs – bar only)

Back Bends: 2 x 15 (legs felt tight)

Group Run 8 miles (11:51)

Comments: Started off with the slower group, but pulled away from them at mile 3. My fastes mile was mile 8!!! I ran around Antrim Park thinking about running the 10 miler race there next weekend. I am still on the fence about that being that it doesn’t start until 9am. I’ll make that decision later on in the week, depending on the weather forecast.

Went quadding on Sunday. My legs were not sore at all from the 8 miler and the pushups I have been doing really helped with the handling of the quad. Hence I had a blast in the mud.

Hills x 4 (4 miles), Push Ups

Comments: Today I did not want to go out and run. Was tired and didn’t feel like climbing hills. So I made it a coworker’s job of the morning to convince me that I should go. She wasn’t very good, but to her credit I trotted out the door.

I added an additional mile to my hill workout. Instead of running one mile then doing hills for a mile and then running for another mile, I ran 1.5 before and after. My legs are tired and aching, but my soul feels good. 🙂

The goal is to have those hill workouts make me a stronger runner. Time will tell.

I did not do push ups last night. My chest was pretty sore from Tuesday’s weight lifting. I am hoping to get them in tonight.
