Comments: One second per mile faster and I’ll be on 1/2 marathon PR time. I was hoping to be a bit faster today, but I think the fast 3 miler yesterday put a slight damper on that. That’s OK, overall it was a good run.
Mile 9 and 10 were a struggle though. At mile 10 I took my headphones off (I was listening to “P1llars of the 3arth“…great book!) and just listened to my breathing. Mental pep talk: You are two miles from home, your body is adapting to the mileage, work it!” So I did. I was paid back with some tremendous left side pains, but at that time was only 1/2 mile away from 12, so I ran through it.
I GUed at mile 4 and 8, and drank every 2 miles.
My next long run will be either further than that, but I haven’t decided if I want to go just 13, or maybe 14, or perhaps jump all the way to 15. It is my intentions to run at least one 15 miler before the 1/2 marathon. We’ll see.
