Short Long Run 4.7

Comments: Can you say COLD! OMG…23 degrees…it took me hours to warm back up!

Met with the TNT group. My plan was to go 6, even though A and T were only going 1 to 2 and then meet up with them to discuss fundraising. The loop around the lake is 1.2. I did the first two, then after the 2nd saw A talking with one of the coaches. She had done her 1 loop, I chatted for a while and did another one. After the 3rd loop I stopped again, this time to chat with A and T, who had done 2 loops. At that time I was only at 3.5 something miles, so I went off to do another.

After the 4th loop I figured A had waited in the cold long enough. My Garmin read 4.7, not even close to the 6 I wanted to do, but sometimes things are not meant to be.

We met at *bucks afterward, my first SB trip ever. I did not indulge in a coffee or some other fancy concoction, but stuck with a bottle of water instead and a blueberry cake, which was yummy. Our first fundraiser will be a 50/50, which we are hoping to sell tickets for at work (we have to check with HR first though) and then a fundraiser at a bar, that agreed to help us.  If the bar agrees to the date, it will be on the 12th of next month, the same day we are holding the drawing for our 50/50 raffle. Off to making posters and flyers now…

3 Tempo

Comments: I had to take walk breaks! That hasn’t happened it quite a while. Overall this was my 2nd fasted tempo run, so that tells me that even though I walked, I ran it harder than usual.

I don’t enjoy these runs (1/4 mile regular pace, 1/4 mile fast, so on and so on) because they are very taxing, but I do realized how important these runs are to increase my overall running fitness. It makes me admire people though that can run marathons at such a fast pace. I was huffing and puffing trying to keep a steady 8:30 min/mile. It is hard for me to imagine running that pace for 26 miles. Nuts! :o)

I ran with contacts today and it’s amazing how much better I can see things! 😉

Recovery 3

Comments: I forgot my Garmin at home…and I had taken my old Garmin home…oops. Oh well.

The run was good, nothing hurt and I took it slow. I did notice however that later on in the day I felt really tired. Somewhat like someone who had gotten over the flue, and with their first day back at work feeling really sluggish at the end of the day.

3 w/side stitches

Comments: I had side stitches…wth? They started almost right out of the gate (so to speak). I was able to get them under control after about 1.5 miles. I was thinking “I don’t need THIS during the half!” It was not like I started like a bat out of hell…no, not so. I took it slow. I’ll have to brute over this one for a bit longer…

After I got back to the gym I did a lot of stretching plus 20 uninterrupted push ups. That felt good.

I keep looking at my running spreadsheet…omg, I only have three training days left!!! If I keep looking at it, the urge to go out and run or lift weights dramatically increases…yickes!

Tomorrow I’ll be getting on the stationary bike, and then it’s eat and rest until Sunday!
The good thing is that I have a new tab started (see purple) for the Capital City Distance Classic. So, life won’t come to an end after the 19th! (Thank goodness!)
