Fast 4

Comments: The whole run I felt good, other when I stepped on a rock/big pebble and twisted my right ankle around mile 1.5. I think I recovered fast enough without pulling anything important and was able to put in my full 4.

BUT, I really need to start running with my contacts in. At work I usually wear glasses, just for the convenience of being able to take them off whenever I need to (like when I work on my computer), so when I go downstairs to run I just leave them in my gym bag. *sigh* I did not see the rock/big pebble though and I noticed I am having a hard time recognizing people in the gym, they are all wishy washy! lol So, for the sake of safety I’ll be wearing contacts to work on run days from now on.

It was incredibly cold outside compared to what I am used to. The wind didn’t help matters much, and for the first 1/2 mile my teeth were louder than my feet. At the end of the run though everything felt really good. I like running in cold weather and my time shows it. Hopefully I’ll be able to repeat that performance during the Flying Feather 4 miler on Turkey day next month.

Tempo run tomorrow!

4 again

Comments: It keeps getting better and I am not complaining. I am starting to toy with the idea of running a 9:30 min/mile pace for the Flying Feather Four miler. Last month I would have been happy with a 10 min/mile pace. Wow!

The run was good, but the book “World Without End” is coming to a close. I am saddened by that. The characters in the stories have been part of my last 44 running hours and I shall miss them. Hopefully I’ll be able to find a suiteable replacement for them.

I am not sure how many miles I will run this weekend. For some reason I have been wanting to run 15, but my heart is just not in it. Maybe I’ll run 10, and then start tapering (the 1/2 is Oct 19th). We’ll see. Other than that we plan on going quadding and taking some of the kids to a pumpkin farm. I am looking forward to that.

Rode the bike and did strength training last night at home.

‘Nother good 4

Comments: Another good run. I stubbed my middle toe yesterday on a French door at home. The door didn’t give, but my toe did! *sigh* I was worried about it, but it didn’t bother me too much.I am taking a vacation day tomorrow to work on the deck for the addition to our house, so I m not sure what I’ll be able to get in running wise. I am hoping to run 5, take Saturday off, and run the 20k race on Sunday.

BTW the shirts we got for that race are horrible. It is a VERY thick sweater and on top of that is a Christmas green color! Gag me!!! The hubby and I were trying to come up with events that I might wear that shirt; we weren’t very successful. I think I’ll hang it on my Wall of Fame. lol Thank goodness we are suppose to get a medal when we finish the race, that will make up for the disappointment of the shirt.

Timeless 4

Comments: Yesterday, as I was putting the Garmin in the gym bag I was thinking to myself, “I really need to charge it tonight.” Did I do it? Nope! So today the infamous “Battery Low” message displayed and it shut off shortly thereafter. Oh well. What’s another run without a time? 🙂

The new ‘loafers’ felt good on the feet and I had a good run. It was a tad bit windy at times, but it was a nice way to cool down.

Is it all finally paying off???: After the run/shower I got dressed and looked in the mirror I noticed that my rear (would it be appropriate to say “ass”?) was no longer there…baggy pants! omg! And last night I was going through winter running clothes in preparation for winter (hey, autumn starts on the 22nd!) I tried some of the shirts on that I had bought but were too small (I tend to do that *sigh*). Holy Batman, they fit! Including my Columbus Marathon shirt, woot!

I haven’t decided yet what I am going to run on Saturday. It will be somewhere between 10 and 15. I am looking forward to the peace and quiet during that run.

Time: 10 am

Weather: 65, sunny, windy

Clothes: NB shirt & shorts

Shoes: Saucony ProGrid Guide (0 miles)

Distance: 4

Time: about 42 min

Split: about 10:30

Course: To Goodale Park, x 2 and back.

Solemn 4 miler

Comments: Has really another year gone by since we last paid tribute to the events that took place on 9/11/2001? That is unbelievable. My heart aches more than usual and my thoughts are with the all the people that were affected by this tragedy.

Today was a solemn run, used to think about the things we take for granted. It was a good run, I did not push it and enjoyed the time I had to myself. I am hoping that with another weight loss of 5 to 10 lbs I can turn that 10:18 min/mile into an even 10 min/mile, but I am willing to wait and work on it.

Time: 10:00am

Weather: 70, sunny

Clothes: Heart Walk shirt, Adidas shorts

Shoes: Saucony ProGrid (346.9 miles)

Distance: 4

Time: 41:12

Split: 10:18

Course: To Goodale Park, x 2 and back.

4 @ work (10:21) & Strength Training @ home

Comments: On my way to work in the morning the radio stationed mentioned that it will be another hot day. So I had the hubby tell my temporary boss (my actual boss is on vacation) that I will be late to work.

I had left my regular Garmin (Forerunner 205) at home so I used my backup (Forerunner 201) instead. What a difference in tracking between the both. The 201 was not able to track me 1/4 of the time. The 205 usually never looses me once it finds me. In the long run it didn’t matter, because all I needed was something to track my overall time. I already had the distance measured.

The run was good. This was my fastest 4 miler ever at work. 🙂 The thing is though, I tell myself to have a comfortable, slow run, just to enjoy what I am doing, but then I always start chasing my previous time. No, I don’t look at my watch during the run, but internally I want to run faster than the last time. I really need to work on that!

Time: 7:00am

Weather: 70, dawn

Clothes: Old MiT shirt, Pearl Izumi Shorts

Shoes: Grid (320.8 miles)

Distance: 4 miles

Time: 41:22

Split: 10:21

Course: To Goodale Park, x 2 and back.

Strength training at home using the weight machine, free weights, and stretch robe.
