Comments: This run was better than yesterday’s, but only because I had no side sitches. I felt strong. Instead of playing the “run to there game” and then walk, I played the “let’s run to there faster” game. It worked, because this is my fastes 4 miler since I have been writing down my times religiously (since 1/9/2007). I know I used to run faster than this (9:30 min/miles); in 2005. But for now I am excited.

Certainly the cooler temperatures have something to do with this, but I would also like to think that all this strength training has helped too.

While in the gym after my run, I first stretched and then did some tricep bench dips. Instead of using one bench though I placed my feet on another bench. I did 2 sets of 20. It kicked my butt, or triceps rather. After I got up one of the regular guys made a comment.

JJ: I only see a few women who do the bench dip that way. It’s not easy.

Me: Yeah, I have big triceps.

In hindsight I should have just said “thank you” lol. I think that all those pushups that I have been doing really helped re-develop my tries. I am going to stop the Push-Up Challange though. I feel I need to concentrate on my upper body weight workout (all around) instead of trying to get to 100 push ups. The program is great though and I recommend it to anyone.

Comments: As soon as I turned my Garmin on it told me that it’s batteries were low. Well, I be dang! I had just recharged that silly apparatus. But, I must have had a blond moment and put it on the charger while still on, so when I removed it off the charger it died a slow, but certain death. Urgh! I see another charge in it’s immediate future.

The run was a very good one. One of my strongest so far, I think. I ran the whole 4 miles without stopping. 🙂

Comments: Side pains again, starting around mile one. They did not get better until after mile 3. I wonder what’s up with that? Overall good run though. A bit hot (sunny) for my taste, and I didn’t have anything to drink with me.

Comments: Good run, negtative split. Met a new dog on the run. “Buddy”, who is really friendly, but doesn’t listen to his owner very well. I stopped my watch around mile 2.5 to greet him properly.

I did have side pains I had to work through starting at mile 1 through mile 3. 😦

Comments: My intentions for this run was to see how fast I could do a 3.1. The answer is 31:29 (10:10 min/mile). I ran that straight, other than the neighbor’s dog, who let me know that he didn’t appreciate me running past his yard. After that I was good to go. Finishing the 3.1 I walked for a bit and ended up with a 10:34 min/mile overall. Not bad.

Comments: My legs, my whole body as a matter of fact were still tired from the run. I kept telling myself this is a recovery run, no need to set a snail’s land speed record. Parts of me enjoyed the run another part remembered why I quit running after long races.

But…I am still at it. However, I am not sure if I really want to try the marathon again. I am not sure if I want to put my body through it. I am going to continue to train for it, but I hate to run for 2 to 3 hours on a Saturday and then be recovering for the whole weekend. That doesn’t seem fair to the family. So…we’ll see how it goes.

I hurt my back in the afternoon, not bad, but it’s just a slight knot. I won’t do push ups tonight, so I won’t irretate it. Tomorrow is strength training. I am hoping it’ll be better.

Comments: I wish the weather was like this all year long!

I had stomach issues when I headed out and resigned myself to do whatever I can do to get the mileage in. Ends up I had one of my best 4 mile runs. 🙂 Hills tomorrow and the Dash for Donations 1/2 marathon on Saturday. Hopefully the weather will be as nice then as it was today.

4 @ work (11:13) HOT

Comments: The leg/ankle was good, I was worried. But it held in there and appears to be not quite as stiff. The weather was hot. I had my water bottle with me, but it was bone dry by the time I got back to work.

I ran the first two miles straight, but needed several walks afterwards to cool back down. Not a bad run considereing the heat and the long run on Saturday.

Time: 10:00am

Weather: 82 feels like 86, sunny and hot!

Clothes: MiT Shirt, NB shorts,

Shoes: Saucony ProGrid (214.1 miles)
