7/13 – 7/19 Recap

7/13 – Ran 4 miles @ work. Ran all 4 miles!

7/14 – 1.15 elliptical @ work and upper body workout

7/15 – Intervals 3 miles @ work…10:09 min/miles

7/16 – 5 miles @ home in the evening, had my daughter ride her bike while I ran…strong upper body workout @ work

7/17 – Rest

7/18 – 8 miler group run, new trail, ran with a friend

7/19 – 5 milers @ home, kids followed me on their bikes…that was fun. 2 minutes faster than 7/16!

Notes: I had a good running week. 25 miles all together and the need to go out and run is still there! I did upper body workout twice. Hopefully I’ll be able to do that next week again. I would like to run 15 miles next Saturday, but the hubby wants to go quadding, so we’ll see how that works out.

7/12 – 180.5 lbs

7/19 – 179 lbs

Lost 1.5 lbs…back on track! Had my scheduled “pig out day” for the month on the 18th. I had Peanut M&Ms, some chips, 1/2 donut, and a small french vanilla cappuccino. I enjoyed everything, but felt sluggish after the M&Ms. Now I am back on track and eating healthy. Overall weight loss since 6/22, 8 lbs and 19 to go.

7/6 – 7/12 Recap

7/06 – Ran 4 miles @ home

7/07 – Elliptical 5.16 miles (45 min) @ work, upper body workout

7/08 – Intervals 3 miles @ work

7/09 – 5 miles @ home in the evening

7/10 – Elliptical 2.10 miles (20 min) @ work, short upper body, stretching

7/11 – 12 mile run at home

7/12 – Rest

Notes: 24 miles of running this week. That hasn’t happened in a long time. I’ll have to make sure I give my body time to rest next week.  My long run was very slow almost 12 min/mile, but I enjoyed it. The 5 miler on Thursday evening was an inpromptu run and I enjoyed it also. I stopped pushing myself too hard during those runs. I am learning to only push myself during interval runs and on the elliptical rider. It is helping me enjoy the long miles.

Father in-law update: The husband, mother in-law and I accompanied Roger to his last chemotherapy on Monday. He’s endured 12 of them. The 11th one hit him very hard and he was dreading the last one. I am glad that this is over and we can only hope that it killed all of his cancer. He will have a PET scan next month which will let him know if the chemo did what it was supposed do. I am running around with my fingers crossed.

7/06 – 179.5 lbs

7/12 – 180.5 lbs

I gained one pound!!! I am not sure how that is possible with all the working out I did. My calorie intake is set just under 1800 cal/day and if I work out then I can add those to my intake and still should loose about a pound per week. I consumed almost 4000 calories less than I was allotted. Practially I should have lost 2 lbs this week. This is very dissapointing. My clothes are looser than they were when I started three weekes ago, but I don’t think it changed any over the last week. I am going to blame it on the time of the month and move on. I will do less cardio on Tuesdays and Thursdays and work more with weights to stimulate my metabalism. Wish me luck!

6/22 – 6/28 Recap

6/22 – Ran 3.1 miles @ work, walked 2.5 miles @ home, lunges

6/23 – Elliptical 3.3 miles (30 min) @ work, upper body workout

6/24 – Ran 4 miles @ home

6/25 – Elliptical 3.55 miles (30 min) @ work, upper body workout

6/26 – Rest

6/27 – Ran 10 miles @ home

6/28 – Rest

Notes: Had a good week, workout wise and food wise, even though the runs all were a bit slow. Lost 5 pounds by not eating crap that my body doesn’t need. I am hoping to reach my goal weight in December of this year and in turn my workouts will get faster. 22 lbs to go!

What ya up to?

I am still running (3 times a week, plus 2 cardio/weight days), but don’t have the time right now to post every day, or every other day for that matter, but I do almost faithfully update my running log every day.

My foot feels much better, the little thingy in my shoe seemed to have done the trick. The Drs still don’t know why I have stomach pains, and we have moved from checking out the colon to seeing what the gallbladder is doing…to be continued…

Day 15 – Day 17

I did not do much in those three days. I wore tennis shoes to work and that little thing under my foot. I seemed to help. I had no pain the second day and it stayed that way. In some strange way, I did not miss running. I think I go in cycles like that.

Day 14 – Ouchie

My foot hurt pretty bad all day long and I was glad to get to the doctor. It took a bit of poking and prodding but he found the boo-boo in my foot and diagnosed me with “Morton’s Neuroma“.  A nerve between my bones in my foot is inflamed, causing the pain. So the doctor game me a little rubber thing to put in my shoe to prevent the two bones from rubbing together and further aggitating the nerve. If that doesn’t help I’ll have to get a cortazone shot in my foot…yikes!

The doctor said I can continue to run, but I think I’ll stick with non-weightbearing exercises for now! lol Worst case cenario I’ll be needing surgery, I don’t want that.

Day 6 through Day 11

Day 6: Took the day off after the 6 mile group run.

Day 7: Ran on the treadmill for 3.5 miles. Left foot in the ball area started hurting but ran through it.

Day 8 – Day 11: Rested the foot, which is hard to do because one HAS to walk on it, specially if one is interested in staying employed. Called the doctor and set up an appointment for Day 14, figuring if the pain gets better, then I could always cancel.

Day 12: Ran 3 miles at home at a slow pace (not intentionally), but the foot didn’t hurt too bad afterwards, which made me decide to run the Columbus 10k on day 13.

Day 3 – Rest…Mike Rowe’s “burpie” workout

I’ll have to try this one of these days, but I am afraid my knees will give me a fit!

Day 2

Comments: The run was bit tougher today than yesterday. I think it’s because I hadn’t run in over a week and my legs were fresh yesterday. That’s ok.

Yesterday I signed up with Marathoners in Training (MiT). I wasn’t sure if I was going to train with them again, the Saturday runs are an hour away, but I am afraid that if I didn’t, I would not train right or at all. It is all silly I know and I am looking forward to this Saturday’s run.

I started listening to a new book on tape. The Scold’s Bridle by Minette Walters. I have read the book before, but it’s been a couple of years, and I don’t remember “who done it”. I really enjoy this auther, she writes the plots and twists really well. I have read Disordered Minds as well, and will listen to that next. After that I plan on starting with her oldest novel and work myself to her newest one, depending on what is available on CD’s on tape.

My legs are tired. I might make tomorrow a rest day or just push some peddles around.

Day 1

Comments: Today started DAY ONE of my half marathon training adventure (No. 10). My goal is to be able to cross the finish line in a faster time than last year.

I just read through some old posts of mine back from August ’07. Even though I am not much faster now than I was back then, I have learned so much about myself and the sport. I would not trade it for the world.

An update on my father-in-law: He endured his 8th chemo last week and took a tumble that evening when he got dizzy and fell. We learned that the toilett is much harder than his head, and now he is sporting a good sized boo-boo on his forehead. He has 3 chemos left and I will be so glad for him when this is over. He is just so miserable and each chemo treatment just hits him harder. I am so very proud of him for staying so strong (even though he feels so weak).

Last week the hubby and I went on our annual quadding (four wheeler) trip to Michigan. Just like the previous years, we had a great time and hated having to come back. If retirement is all about that kind of life, then I am ready to retire today!

Here are a few pictures from our adventure. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did when they were taken.

I found what appears to be a good application for my iPhone. I currently track my running on (and plan to continue to do so). That website is now integrated with Facebook (until the app is approved by FB you can find the app link here). However, the technical geek that I am not, I am always looking for great gadget or application to tickle my fancy. I found this: Pace. I wish it would also allow me to add non-running workouts, perhaps that will come in future updates.

Weather: 67, sunny

Distance: 3.1 miles
