American Heart Association 5k Walk

Walked a 5k to benefit the American Heart Association with the hubby and a large number of co-workers (and many other people). According to the announcer 15k people registered to walk and over $800k was raised.

The walk was fun and it took us just over 52 minutes to complete.

2 @ work (11:03) + 1 mile walk

Comments: It was so warm that even the digital display at the Vets Memorial was a bit confused…it showed 42 degrees! lol

I went outside not sure what I was gonna do run wise. My body needs to get adjusted to the heat, and after having such a good run (heat feeling wise) I wanted to go out and do something. But I didn’t want to overdo it because I had my long run yesterday.

After about 2 miles I was burning hot and decided to walk the last mile.

3 @ work

Comments: The legs were really tired from yesterday’s hard run, so I was deciding about using the elliptical rider or just skipping the workout all together and walk to our favorite sandwich shop for lunch wit’ the husband. But then I remembered the promise to myself and sent the hubby an e-mail telling him that I wanted to “walk, walk” for lunch.

He takes his lunch a bit later than I do, so at 11:30, equipped with shorts and walking shoes we were out the door. I told him we’d walk out 1.5 miles and back 1.5.

We started off at a good speed (left my Garmin at my desk), and made it to the 1.5 mile mark in a decent time. But then, all of a sudden, like a tire going flat, I felt drained. My leg wobbled and my brain was wishy washy. Thank goodness the symptoms weren’t too bad and we managed to walk back the 1.5 to work without any problems.

Once we got cleaned up I gobbled my food down like there was no tomorrow!

I figure with us working out an hour and half later than I am used to I just didn’t have enough food in me to handle the exercise. Lesson learned!

Time: 11:30am

Weather: 59, sunny and windy

Clothes: MiT Shirt, and NewBalance shorts

Shoes: Saucony ProGrid (60.3 miles)

Distance: 3

Time: No Garmin

Split: No Garmin

Course: Under 33 and back.

40 minutes of walking

Comment: Walked 40 minutes at lunch time. The game plan was to hop on the elliptical rider for that amount of time, but the gym is being used by the Red Cross (Blooddrive) today.

So the husband and I went out for a walk. 20 minutes (the long way) to Chipotle (Mexican fast food restaurant) and 20 minutes back to work.  🙂 About 1.9 miles total.

1 mile & lifting and my friend Jim

Running: Walked a mile on the treadmill. Felt very good, but I am keeping to no running until at least Monday.

Weightlifting: Just to get back into the swing of things I did the bench press, no weight other then the bar (45 lbs) 20 times, 2 sets.

I missed my friend Jim in the fitness center today at lunch (no he did not pass away, but rather retired on me while back! lol) With training for the Pump and Run (PnR) old memories are coming back. It felt like he was spotting me (watching me lift & make sure I don’t drop the bar) today, talking smack to our friend Don and my hubby.

Hopefully Don will go back at it next year when he turns 60…Jimmy, you better start using that treadmill that you have in the basement, can’t have Don show you off!! 😉

Co-workers, including the hubby (on my right), and I (red jacket) after a successful PnR in 2005.

1 mile @ work ~ treadmill

Headed to the gym with the hubby today…walked 20 minutes on the treadmill and covered one mile. Nice and easy. Yesterday I got off the treadmill after 10 minutes; I could feel soreness in my legs. Not today though. It was temping to just hit the “+” button on the machine and go faster. But I didn’t. 🙂

I also got reacquainted with the bench-press. After all, if I do the Pump and Run I need to start lifting again. Not to worry though, I didn’t add any weights and did just one set of 20. After that I stretched a bit and our day in the gym was done.

My new sticker (pic taken with my cell phone, hence the crappy quality):
